Blog Post New Entry

Nice to see the darkside popping in

Posted by dartsinw6 on January 12, 2010 at 1:15 PM

Due to heavy xmas schedule i have only just noticed the two posts by Linda (from the darkside lol)
Sorry for the late reply.
Sadly we have only 16 teams as two were unable to fulfil the requirements late on.
Yes it is nice to see we live in a strong darting community.
It would be nice to see Deta again I haven't seen her for a few years. And boy can she play. Frightened the life out of most of the PDC tour.

I must say this thou..... you say we were stagnating as a league.
I think we were going through hard times. Myself and the new comittee members (what few we had) had only just loosened the grip of the Hammersmith club who thought they owned the league and had a very long and hard road ahead of us in turning the HDDA around.
yes it never was going to an easy and instant job.
But for the few we had on the committee we tried and in all fairness the few committee mebers NEVER once got praise for work they had already acheived but merely critised and in some cases treated with total disrespect from people who were clearly self motivated and blinkered. .
One thing that never has been easy for me to understand if the darkside inventors agreed with this so much why on earth did they not come onto the committee and help with the transition......
THE ANSWER is and always has been they wanted there own league that they could dictate.
Also one of the main agruement and I know these as i still have ALL stored, was fees so it surprises me no end to suddenly raise the game to £75.

Our sponsorships deals are in place because what we promise is that we deliver.

Your youth system is fantastic and i hope you get the backing it deserves.

But all in all, all we learnt from the darkside was to advertise a little more than we were.

And I am glad to hear that they now reliaze what is needed to run a happy ship fairly and cheaply........   and what work is involved.
As it is still the HDDA that leads the way in west london. and we will continue to take those back handed compliments from all others.

having said all that I wish all of the darkside  good health and a happy new year. and should any team wish to come a join the HDDA and enjoy what wonderful delights we are offering this term they woould be made more than welcome .

The nite we played you Jason you were there, you put team up played in first games then dropped yourself from the singles and left early you came over and shook all our hands we thought this was because of the letter of resignation Tony Jones handed in! If you wasn't well that would explain why you left early as that was unlike you!
I have played an active role in Wldl, dart school and youth county ! But that was only because time permitted sadly it's bit different now and have had to cut back.
We even tried a two division approach last year on a geographical basis but the majority decided they wanted to go back to one division so it is!
If the split hadn't happened I very much doubt if there would have been 32 teams. Both leagues redoubled their efforts and changes were made perhaps for the better! Who knows one day bygones will be bygones and unification might happen! Not unlike pdc/bdo there

Should have previewed my post before sending it should have read the week we played you not 'that'
We knew there was talk of alternative league but certainly nobody from ox and cam league were involved! In fact our team told the breakaway group we wanted to sort out our issues at meeting! Main concerns were the lack of darts as pub players we got at one period mid season we had 1 game in six weeks ! As to not telling committee on more than one occassion we spoke to frank about concerns we and others had the chancellors had already pulled out of the league over lack of darts !
At the end of the day we have all moved on and I don't think mudslinging is productive without doubt hdda is stronger than wldl but through our league we have unearthed some little diamonds.
Looking forward to meeting you at Hayes on 21st perhaps you and Deta can play a few legs! Was talking the other nite do you remember 'guest' appearing for the fav b against us you lost to Gary W which is no disgrace especially as fav b players were throwing bar stools at you on the oche. Happy darting and good luck on tour

Sadly Paul you are very much mistaken my man.
The week after the Golden Lion meeting which i missed through illness I am pretty sure i was in Hospital.
if so you couldn't have played me. Also at no point was I ever handed a letter of any kind.
The reason i was so annoyed, was the fact that we were crying out for committee membersand all we ever got were idiotic crictics, who were not prepared to help out, as they were all ready covertly going around to start their own league. So covertly infact that when i approached them , when i did finally hear about the WLDL they deined they had anything to do with it. COWARDS.

All the above are indeed FACT and I agree with you with the 36 teams being good and have over the years enjoyed your company and even enjoy these debates. So I here by lay the guanlet down to you........... Will you finally tell the truth regarding the covert operation to star the league, ask the dictators of the WLDL to pass coment on their views to mine , also why you NEVER approached the committee. instead of coming back with the same old driffle about how bad the league was.

My old team the Oxford and Cambridge were discontented with hada made our views known to committee decided to attend meeting at golden lion fulham to try to thrashbout our concerns with the league, also other disenchanted teams were in attendence ! Sadly frank couldn't hold a meeting as not enough committee members to form a quorum! If I remember rightly there werent any members of 1st division there! We then reported back to the team and had a vote, it was a majority 8/3 to leave . We still had to play you Jason that week where we handed in our letter of resignation from the league. At no time did anyone from the committee ask to have chat with us. But as you say we have all moved on! There is now 36 teams in and around the borough. Nice to see henry murphy qualify for uk open , henry was in chancellors youth last season and was captain of London county youth which evolved from the dart school set up by linda. Happy darting
